“What Brands Do You Carry?”

Email from Karen:

Am wondering which brands you carry/promote.

Our response:

Hi Karen,

We recommend the hearing aid that is the best fit for the patient. 
As there is no one-sized-fits-all approach to hearing care, we work 
with all major manufacturers.


Karen’s reply:

But (a) you didn’t answer my question. 
(b) I imagine you do not carry all brands.
I REALLY want to know what brands you carry/promote.

We are asked which company we represent or who we are a dealer for quite often.


Life when you are loyal to one manufacturer can be tasty sweet!


You get invites to special events held by billionaires at swanky mansions. You get to rub elbows with celebrities. Comped hotel and travel. And for the holidays . . . 10 lb. bricks of Scharffen Berger Chocolate (rather than just a pre-printed holiday card).

We did say, “Sweet.”


Provider life is easier with only one brand. Supplies are free. You get all you want. Only have one technology platform to be competent with. Best seats at continuing education conferences. Free dinners. You even get your advertising paid for.


For us . . . No Thanks!


In audiology, you can either be loyal to the patient or loyal to the manufacturer. 
You can’t be loyal to both.


How Can We Help You be Most Successful with Hearing Care?

That’s our guiding principle.


We get visits all the time from manufacturer reps offering to sweep us off our feet.


Not interested.

“Which brand of hearing aid should you buy?” is the wrong question.


“Which hearing aid is right for YOU?”
“Which hearing aid will YOU be most successful with?”


Those are the right questions.

All manufacturers have ‘aptitudes.’ Good at some things. Outstanding at others.


Different manufacturers have different programming philosophies. These philosophies influence the listening experience. Depending on the specifics of your hearing loss, your lifestyle, your ability to understand speech . . . Brand A will do wonders for you. Brand C, not so much.


But Brand C could do wonders for the brother that you recommend come see us.


So, either we can keep company with just one brand. Go to the swankiest parties with amazing food and free-flowing booze . . . and 10 lb. chocolate bars . . .


Or we can make sure YOU are 100% delighted with your hearing experience.


We choose YOU!


The cynicism of being loyal to one brand doesn’t sit well with us. It’s settling for less than the best.


Brand A wants an army of people wearing their hearing aids.

We want an army of people who are living testimonies to the benefits of hearing care.


We can take our experience, our passion, our mastery of the technology, our clarity of the differences between brands . . . but we can only build that army 1 person at a time.
